Russell and Stella

Ok, so I have had Russell for about 3.5 years now.  He is pretty cool.  His friend Stella looks like a tiger.  This is a video from one day when we got together at the dog park for a play date.

They look like they're having a pretty fun time.  Yay dogs!

Twisty Puzzles

Ok, so I was in middle school when the Rubik's Cube craze hit the streets.  The world was a lot simpler then, maybe because I wasn't an adult yet, who knows.  Pre-internet, you could still dial 5 digits on the same exchange locally.

So I never got more than one layer on my own.  But then in about 1996 a friend showed me how to solve the basic cube using a guide called "The Ideal Solution" published by the Ideal toy company.  It was surprisingly simple.  Not as elegant as the F2L OLL PLL solutions that I still haven't mastered, but as far as memorizing seven basic steps it is pretty much stupid easy.

And then you add on a few additional steps and you can do the 4x4x4 Rubik's Revenge and the 5x5x5 Rubik's Professor.

And as proof that I am like a serious level nerd, I will post some of the videos I came up with when I was super focused on learning the stuff.
